How to plan your gorilla trek

Responsible trekking

Before entering the forest, park rangers explain the current health, distance, photography, and group-behaviour rules. Follow their instructions throughout the visit, keep voices low, avoid sudden movement, and never leave litter behind. If you feel unwell before the trek, tell your guide. These precautions help protect gorillas from human illness and keep the encounter calm for wildlife and visitors.

When should you travel?

Gorilla trekking operates throughout the year. Drier periods can make forest trails easier to navigate, while greener months may bring heavier rain, lush scenery, and different availability. Mountain weather can change quickly in any season, so waterproof layers and flexible expectations remain important year-round.
